LDS Active performs additional services such as CTI, voice logging, voice box, cryptography, least cost routing and callback.

CTI Server (Computer Telephony Integration)

With the LDS Active platform, an ISDN PBX without CTI interface can be turned into a fully functional CTI system.

If the system is installed on the trunk side, the entire traffic can be routed through the CTI server.

The CTI server can be installed on internal BRI of the PBX, for instance.

Call switching is done irrespective of the existing PBX system's features.

Voice Mailbox Server

This service is usually not included in PBX systems or very expensive if it is offered.

The LDS Active platform provides the switch technology required for voice mail services.

CallBack Server

CallBack is a call switching technology that sets up a connection indirectly.

To use this service, you call the service number of a favourably priced provider
and hang up after having let the phone
ring once or twice (this call is free of
charge since it was not completed).

The CallBack server calls you back at the pre-assigned number you provided. Answering this call and entering the number you wish to call establishes the connection.

LDS Active platform offers every function required to implement CallBack solutions.

Crypto Server

LDS Active allows for encrypted communication in circuit-switched ISDN networks.

LDS Active is installed on the trunk side (between the PSTN and the communication hardware) at both remote sites.

Voice transmission in circuit-switched ISDN networks is PCM-encoded at a rate of 8 bytes/sec.

LDS Active compresses the data rate
to 4 bytes/sec and uses the bandwidth
thus gained for encrypting.

The encoded packages are packed into HDLC frames and transmitted.

PBX Enhancements

Conventional PBX switching technology is often too limited for today's requirements.

They are usually based on proprietary or closed operating systems, thus requiring expensive and complicated integration projects in order to link them up with other PBX installations or computer systems.

The restricted scaleability of these networks is another factor that might cost fast growing companies a great deal of money
in the end.

LDS Active allows you to implement numerous supplementary services including

on demand-recording,
rejecting black list calls,
dialling numbers directly from PC applications,
DTMF-controlled activities
other customized PBX applications

Least Cost Router (LCR)

A LCR is a system that automatically routes telephone calls over the least expensive route. The routing information is loaded
into the routing tables.

The LineDataSwitch splits the connection between the PSTN and the terminal,

adds a prefix to the B party number
and sends it to the local switch with
a setup message.

The LCR needs to provide a TE stack in
the direction of the local switch and an
NT stack in the direction of the terminal.
